Renters’ Rights Act 2025 – Implementation Date

The Government has now announced the official implementation date for the Renters’ Rights Act. From 1 May 2026, sweeping reforms will take effect across England, including:

  • The end of Section 21 “no-fault” evictions
  • Stronger protections against excessive rent increases
  • Clearer rights for tenants to request pets
  • A new Decent Homes Standard for private rentals

These changes represent the most significant update to rental legislation in a generation, and both landlords and agents are encouraged to prepare well ahead of time.
